(Friday, January 4, 2002) -- Mike Fennell, the highly successful McQuaid baseball coach and lung cancer survivor, will receive the Maj. Donald Holleder Award at the 53rd Rochester Press-Radio Club Day of Champions banquet, Jan. 23, at the Riverside Convention Center.

The award is presented annually to a person who has exhibited a high level of sportsmanship, courage and achievement consistent with Holleder, the former Aquinas Institute and Army football star who was killed during the Vietnam War in 1967. Previous Holleder winners include Marv Levy, Wilma Rudolph and Pete Pavia.
